Shelter in Place Day 64

But, I can’t have grilled cheese every night for dinner. The Husbear and I finally sat down and discussed food. I was honest and said, I’m tired of being in charge of everything we eat in here. I’m making breakfast, lunches and dinner. I’m going out for the food and cleansing the food before I put it away and I’d like to just not be responsible for making all the food. 

We talked about a food plan, I’d put something together, that listed B, L, D, & Snacks. It was colorful, but I couldn’t stick by it. Just got to the point where I no longer wanted to go in the kitchen, because I was baking or making mayonnaise or pesto. I was tired of standing looking in the fridge for what to make. 

So, he said he didn’t want to make dinner, because he cleaned the kitchen at the end of the night and it just seemed like so much. So, we came to an arrangement. He makes breakfast, we forage for lunch and I make dinner. He cleans the kitchen at the end of the night and I empty the dishwasher in the morning. 

I still make the coffee, because apparently I’m the only one who knows how to put a pod in. My mom used to say I made the best coffee, it was before pods, but I apparently measured the right amount. I think it’s just that I know the correct amount of cream to coffee to taste good. [Hey mom, I taught The Husbear about the morning chat of Hoooottt Cofffeeeee!]

So back to the food plan. I said, “Sometimes I’ll still get sick of cooking.” So, we came up with a weekly food plan, where I can figure out what I’ll make ahead of time, but specific foods on specific nights. 

Monday Night – Take out night. We like to support our neighborhood restaurants. (Wingstop)

Tuesday Night – Ground beef dish. Tomorrow night I’m making ground beef curry.

Wednesday Night – Fish (Tuna, Shrimp, Scallops) – I’m making Tuna Melts

Thursday Night – Chicken – I’m making my Mediterranean Pan Chicken 

Friday Night – Feast Night (Shabbat) – gonna order GF Challah and make a big meal. 

Saturday Night – Leftovers or as he called it paper plate night. 

Sunday Night – Cook’s Choice – Last night I made Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic, creamed spinach & a salad with raspberries, tomatoes, pine nuts, garbanzo beans, green onions, and champagne vinaigrette dressing. I know it seemed like feast night. 

I think this might help us out a bit. I’ll plan the big meals before I do my weekly shopping, but at least meals won’t be drudgery any longer, because I’m making everything. And when we lunch foraged I put together a cheese, fruit, nut plate. It was fantastic.
